Rethink Your Plate

A plant-based diet can help reduce greenhouse gases, preserve water and land, and save lives! Eating a vegan diet could be the single biggest way to reduce our environmental impact on the earth, cutting meat and dairy products from our diet could also reduce our carbon footprint from food by up to 73 percent.

- Go heavy on the plants.

- Participate in meatless-Mondays

- Participate in wheatless-Wednesdays

- Commit to eating plant-based two days a week or more if you can!

- Opt for smaller plates of food and go back for seconds if you're still hungry.

- Use your freezer for leftovers! Almost anything can be frozen to prolong its shelf life including bread, soup and pasta sauce.

- Make sure you actually eat your leftovers! Next day’s lunch is a good moment for that.

- Make local produce the star of the show and lightly garnish with animal products.

- Focus on crops that aren't as water-intensive like lima beans, corn, peanuts, quinoa, watermelon, radishes, spinach, etc.

- Speak with your farmers at the market or any expert that knows about how food gets to your plate. You will learn some tips on how to eat more sustainably.

- Re-brew your tea leaves

- Opt for local, in-season fruits and veggies as snacks instead of pre-packaged ones.
